Verizon makes sure you know their customers are most loyal

Posted by Joe P on May 13, 2008

We’ve got all of the first quarter reports in from the major carriers, so it’s time to see who has the highest churn. Well, duh, it’s Sprint, considering they lost over a million subscribers. But who had the most loyal customer base? That would be Verizon. They had a 0.93 percent postpaid churn, and 1.2 percent overall. Their competitors, according to the press release: Carrier X, Carrier Y, Carrier Z. Gee, I wonder if we can figure out who is who!

I don’t know why they insult us like this. When a carrier has N/A under its combined churn, well, then it’s going to be Sprint. They don’t offer prepaid services, or at least they don’t under the Sprint brand. Their gig is Boost, which is a wholly owned subsidiary.

So that leaves us Carriers X and Z. Carrier Z has a 2.6 percent blended churn. Ding ding ding! T-Mobile. Leaving Carrier X as AT&T. So please, Verizon, next time you send out a press release bragging about how great you are, spare us and use your competitors’ names. The churn data, after all, is publicly available information.

This is the 14th consecutive quarter that Verizon has topped the churn category. And they want to make sure you know it.
