Verizon customers hit with spam attack
Posted by Joe P on December 11, 2007
We’ve never seen a company so vigilant against spammers as Verizon Wireless. They’ve tracked down and sued many mass-spammers. In addition, they offer credits to customers who report receiving spam text messages, a feature either not available from other providers, or not widely publicized. However, sometimes these spam attacks get through, and that’s what happened to Connecticut subscribers on Monday.
There are few details on how many customers received the unwanted text messages, but Verizon, as always, is offering up credits for those affected. Now, they could stop there and let bygones be bygones. But knowing Verizon, they could sniff out these rogue spammers and have another go in court. After all, they’ve either won or have had a favorable settlement in all cases.
