The T-mo, Twitter escapade

Posted by Joe P on December 17, 2007

It was reported late last week that T-Mobile was blocking Twitter sevice from their phones. Twitter has an opt-in, short code arrangement with T-Mo, though as of Friday it appeared as if the carrier was blocking the social networking service. This was speculated through Saturday. However, after hearing what Twitter is having to say on the issue, combined with a return to service — well, sort of — it seems to have been a technical failure all along.

Twitter reported, via their official blog, that as of Saturday at 4:30 p.m., the issue has been resolved. There are still some bugs in the service — some are reporting that they can send but not receive messages, and some vice versa. Even as of late Sunday, it hasn’t totally been fixed, but we can at least debunk the T-Mo conspiracy.

We’ve also read bits that rip T-Mo for net neutrality issues. Look, if blocking sites and applications is a net neutrality issue, we think there have been plenty off issues prior to this over which to raise a stink.
