T-Mobile 3G network tomorrow?
Posted by Joe P on April 30, 2008
Well, T-Mobile said they’d roll out their 3G network this spring, and it looks like they’re going to come through. Rumor has it that May 1 is the date, which is tomorrow…which is pretty freakin’ neat. Of course, it’s not official. We’re still awaiting word from T-Mo themselves. TmoNews has a hard-copy clipping, so there could be an announcement this morning. I’ll update the post when it’s made.
While it must be exciting for T-Mo to finally have a 3G network, the full capabilities of it won’t be realized until they start introducing more compatible handsets. And I’m not just talking about mid-range 3G handsets. I’m talking about WiFi, 3G smartphones, so that you can utilize their supposed seamless data switch. To me, that’s the biggest part about this launch.
Look for the next releases to come in Austin, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, and Miami. T-Mo says they should have 3G in 20 markets by the end of this year.
