Man lives on roof of T-Mobile store

Since December, 2007, Luke Barrett has been living on the roof of a T-Mobile store in Boulder, Colorado. Well, had been living, since police caught him last Friday. Told to “stop and place his hands in the air,” Barrett ran, though was ultimately detained at the scene. He was charged with and convicted of trespassing and obstructing an officer. His seven-day sentence finishes on Thursday. As you might imagine, Barrett is homeless.
“Luke told me he stays there because he is left alone, no one knows he’s there and his personal items are secure when he sleeps on the roof,” police reported.
Police checked for signs of robbery, but found none. Apparently, he was just on the roof because he had nowhere else to go. While I understand why an owner would want to protect his property and not having people sleep on it, I’m reminded of The Grapes of Wrath.
