You’ve probably seen a few iPhone owners with their smug little faces watching videos on that sexy 3.5 inch screen and you’ve probably been enthralled by the quality of that display. Although it does looks great it’s still a tiny screen and if you don’t have a iPhone, the chances are you have a much smaller screen. So who in their right mind is prepared to sit in front on a small handheld device for two hours and expect to be blown away by a cinematic masterpiece like, say, The Butterfly Effect starring the granny loving Aston Kutcher? Idiots and morons, that’s who!

The thing is, handheld devices work great for movie trailers and are perfect for endless web videos of men getting hit in the nuts. But they flat out suck when it comes to full length feature films. Have you seen the size of average TVs these days?

If watching movies on your cell phone wasn’t a big enough exercise in futility already, along comes CinemaNow Mobile. A service that lets you rent or buy movies via your web-enabled phone, to download them to your home PC for viewing later.

To use CinemaNow Mobile, after signing up for an account, you have to download their Media Manager software to your computer. Then you can visit http://mobile.cinemanow.com and order movies on your phone.

There is one kicker though. When you order a movie via the mobile site you must have the Media Manager on your home PC running at the time. If you’re a tree-hugging-power-saving-freak like me, then this is going to be a problem. When I’m not at home using my computer it’s turned off.

My biggest beef with CinemaNow Mobile is that I just don’t see the point of it. I not thinking about renting movies during my ultra-busy lifestyle. When I’m home and in the mood to watch a film I already have multiple choices, for a start I could just log on CinemaNow and start watching a movie in minutes. Plus I have numerous movie channels available through my digital satellite.

So CinemaNow Moblie may not be my cup of tea but if you’re one of those abnormally super-organized people that would never think of throwing your clothes on the floor before jumping into bed then it might just work for you.
