Worldwide restrictions on your mobile phone
Posted by Joe P on March 19, 2008
Over the past few years, we’ve seen heavy restrictions come down on when you can and when you can’t use your mobile phone. The most notable instance is while driving. Many states have barred any kind of cell phone use while driving without the use of a hands-free headset. Other states, though, let you travel their streets with your phone propped on your ear. Kathryn over at Dial A Phone goes over various mobile phone restrictions around the world. You can check out her whole post. It’s worth it. Here are some highlights:
Hospitals: Kathryn talks about UK hospitals debating the hospital issue. As I mentioned on our sister site Prepaid Reviews, doctors are more worried about the effects phones have on hospital equipment than they are about the speculative cancer worries.
Gaming: Did you know Greece had a law barring cell phone gaming? Wow. Of course, everyone knows that we can’t get enough games on our cells.
Cameras: Holy…I did not know any of this. APparently, there’s something called the Video Voyeurism Prevention Act of 2004, which says you can’t take nude pictures of anyone with a cell phone camera without their consent. I’m not sure if the law is directed right to cell phone cameras…I’d think this would cover all sorts of nude photographing.
As I said, there’s tons more so go check out Kathryn’s article.
