Mobile Notes: Sprint & Verizon, MobiTV, Chess Cheats
Posted by Joe P on April 17, 2008
Just a few stories of interest from around the Interwebs. We could have a little Verizon/Sprint battle-a-brewin’.
- Verizon has sued Sprint over unpaid interconnection charges. Apparently, the claim is nearing its statute of limitations, so legal action “comes as no surprise.” Sprint is confident that they can settle out of court.
- We should be seeing some improvements to MobiTV. They’ll now be able to multicast programming on the fly, as opposed to their current unicasting system. Channel-change times should also be reduced. Oh yeah, and you’ll be seeing ads during commercial breaks.
- A chess player participating in the Dubai Open was caught receiving tips via SMS. They didn’t say whether he forfeited the match, but I’d assume so. Apparently, someone received a 10-year ban in 2006 for using a Bluetooth-enabled device to access a chess computer.
