Mobile Notes: Solar power, T-Mobile going open, Alltel My Circle
Posted by Joe P on April 23, 2008
As we do every day, here are some stories open in my browser. If you want to read another story about the 700 MHz auction, you can check out a take on MSNBC.
- Looks like Verizon is trying some solar powered cell stations. Of course, they decided to release pictures of the station on Earth Day.
- T-Mobile is looking for open software platforms. They go against the grain of the industry by necessity. But what they’re doing is still awesome.
- With Sony Ericsson announcing a 48 percent profit dropoff from Q1 last year, they need to instill some confidence. Unfortunately, announcing a couple of mid-range handsets isn’t going to do it.
- Alltel’s My Circle plans have been around for two years, and they’re celebrating by giving you a bonus. Eligible accounts — not sure what makes you eligible — will get an extra bonus number, which can be called for free.
- 10 ways a cellphone can ruin your relationship. “You prefer the phone to your partner.” Yeah, that’ll ruin more than your relationship.
