Mobile Notes: Sidekick, Nokia, LG, Landlines
Posted by Joe P on April 29, 2008
So it seems that this TmoNews site is ready to put their credibility on the line. After launching earlier this month, they’ve brought us a slew of rumors. These are for the most part a month or so in the future, so their accuracy remains to be seen. But people are eating it up, so we might as well pass along the info. Trust me, we’ll be awaiting official announcements on the rumors they present.
- Today, the TmoNews guys tell us that there is a new Sidekick, or Sidekicks, on the way. The confusion arises in the codenames, as they can’t decipher if it’s one device with two names, or just two devices. The “SK Gekko” is rumored for July 27th, and the “Sidekick Aspen” on the 30th. They doubt the inclusion of WiFi, but I ask: Why put out a new Sidekick without WiFi?
- Nokia looks to be releasing three new phones later this year, two slides and a flip. The two slides sport 3.2 megapixel cameras, while the flip has a 2 megapixel model. Nokia has more information on their site.
- LG is also looking at three releases through Verizon. The Decoy is set to drop May 30 online, June 9 in stores. The Chocolate Flip should drop June 24 online, with a July in-store release. Finally, the Dare — a.k.a. the Prada — is slated for an Independence Day release online.
- Speaking of LG and Verizon, the enV2 will be available tomorrow, April 30. It’ll cost you $130 after rebates and the signing of a two-year deal. It hasn’t exactly gotten rave reviews.
- The use of landlines continues to fall. This is little surprise.

Looks like we did put our reputation on the line. We posted what T-mobile has listed as release dates. The July 27th date does seem fishy…but we do know it is a whole new device. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. If any changes happen now, it looks like it will be T-mobile changing the date, and you can expect us to be the first to bring it to you. Haha nice post though! Keep up the good blogging
