AT&T partners with NCAA for March Madness
Posted by Joe P on March 13, 2008
Seriously, this might be the best time of the year. The weather is getting a bit warmer (depending on where you live, I guess), baseball is getting ready for seven months of glory, and of course, college basketball is set for its yearly tournament. The field of 64 is nearly ready for action, and AT&T is determined to bring you top-notch coverage on your mobile phone. They’ve partnered with NCAA to bring you closer to the action. Through their March Madness portal, AT&T and the NCAA give you the ability to watch video highlights of the games, as well as help select the winner of the 2008 Naismith Trophy, the award for best men’s and women’s college basketball players of the year.
Of course, I would have liked to see full games streamed onto smartphones, but that might just be my greed talking. For the past three years, I’ve enjoyed streaming video of every game of the tournament, so I guess I’m spoiled. But the ability to flip through game highlights during your commute home from work or school is not something to be overlooked.
Voting for the Naismith Trophy will take place over text message. Soon enough, we’ll be electing our government officials via text message. The text message voting accounts for 25 percent of the selection process. As long as no one from Duke wins it, I’m cool with any outcome.
Beyond the videos and the voting, you can also access stats and real-time scores from the portal. And then you get all the analytical goodies, including articles and video of the guys in the studio breaking down the game.
“AT&T is pleased to be an NCAA Corporate Champion partner for the sixth year in a row,” said Tim McGhee, director of Sponsorships for AT&T. “Once again, your AT&T wireless phone puts you courtside to all the excitement and action surrounding NCAA March Madness.”
We’re pleased to have you be their partner, Tim.
